Kim Browning has been in the hair business since 1979. She owned 2 full service salons before becoming involved with Supercuts and operated 10 locations from 1984 to 2004. For 6 years she taught continuing education to cosmetologists in Indiana. After selling Supercuts, Kim opened her current salon, The Vault, in Beech Grove, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis.

The Vault has won “The #1 Place” in Indianapolis to get a Haircut by the readers of NUVO Magazine the very first year The Vault was open, and has won the same award 3 other times, and placed in the top 3 many other years. 
Indianapolis Monthly Magazine selected The Vault as the best place to get an updo in December 2008.

Kim loves to cut hair, do color, highlights, and updos.  She especially loves easy to style textured cuts, and unique highlight and color placements. In 2000, she founded Project Prom, a non profit group that helps girls who can’t afford to attend their prom, Project Prom provides dresses, shoes, jewelry, makeup and hairstyles at no charge to the girls. She volunteered for several years as a “Look Good Feel Better” Instructor through the American Cancer Society.

As a public speaker, Kim has taught classes about how to save money, and has also spoken at several churches about faith and life lessons.  She likens herself to a Golden Retriever puppy — she loves everyone and just wants to have fun!

Kim has 2 sons, Brandon, 35 and Chase, 30. She has been in a relationship with her boyfriend, Bob, since 2000. She loves to song and has been in a country-rock band as well as singing with her church  choir. Kim eats a Vegan diet, loves cooking, photography, travel, decorating, writes poetry, and rides a motorcycle. She collects antique jewelry, loves vintage clothes and sells vintage items on ebay.

At The Vault, Kim loves to bring in new stylists and help them grow their business.  Her team of 7 operates as a  No-Drama, true team where everyone encourages and helps each other succeed. 

Her future goals are to be a Life Coach and Motivational Speaker.

Kim joined the AskMags Panel of Advisors in 2008.  Mags decided she is one of those stylists that is great at everything, so she is our “Everything Expert”
