Cuticle and the Cortex close up.

In this very close up picture, you really get to see the cuticle layers held together by the
CMC-Cell Membrane Complex that hold the cuticle layers together, it’s like cement.
Then you see all the different layers of the cuticle which do different things to protect the cortex of the hair.
Getting into the cortex you can see how the bundles of hair are grouped together with each bundle having even more fibrils that are woven together to create each bundle.
Then you can see pigments in their granules dotted here and there.
And again the CMC is holding all these bundles together with their glue-like substance.
